AI Summarizer Beta

Turn long text or a document into a short summary, bullet points, key takeaways, or an executive summary. Summarizing runs server-side via an AI API — see the FAQ below for why.

Supports .txt, .docx, .pdf, .pptx

… or paste text directly

Unlike most tools on this site, summarizing genuinely needs a real AI model — too large to run in your browser at usable speed or quality. So this one tool works differently: your pasted text or uploaded document is sent to our server, which relays it to an AI API to generate the summary, then returns it to you. Nothing is stored afterward, but this is the one tool here where your content does briefly leave your device — see the FAQ below for the full disclosure. Up to about 20,000 characters (roughly a long article or short report) per summary.

How it works

  1. Paste text directly, or upload a .txt, .docx, .pdf, or .pptx document.
  2. Pick a summary type — Short summary, Detailed summary, Bullet points, Key takeaways, or Executive summary.
  3. Click Summarize and wait a few seconds while an AI model generates the summary.
  4. Copy the result or download it as a .txt file.

Frequently asked questions

Does this run in my browser like the other tools here?

No — and this is one of only a few tools on the site where that's worth being upfront about (the others are AI Rewriter, AI Translator, and Playlist Checker). Generating a real summary needs an actual AI language model, which is too large to run in a browser at usable speed or quality. So your pasted text or uploaded document is sent to our server, which relays it to an AI API to generate the summary, then sends the result back to you. It is not saved or logged anywhere afterward.

What's the difference between the 5 summary types?

Short summary is 2-4 sentences covering just the essential point. Detailed summary covers all major points in full paragraphs. Bullet points lists the key points, one per line. Key takeaways is a numbered list of the most important, actionable insights. Executive summary is a short overview plus key findings, written for a busy decision-maker.

What file types can I upload?

Plain text (.txt), Word documents (.docx), PDFs (.pdf), and PowerPoint decks (.pptx). Scanned/image-only PDFs with no real text layer aren't supported since there's no text to extract. You can also just paste text directly instead of uploading anything.

Is there a length limit?

Yes — about 20,000 characters per summary (roughly a long article or short report). Longer input is automatically truncated to that limit rather than rejected outright.

Can the text I'm summarizing contain instructions that change what the AI does?

No — your text is always treated strictly as content to summarize, never as instructions for the AI to follow, even if it contains something that looks like a command.

Your files are never uploaded. Gotool.xyz runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser. Your files are processed in memory and never touch a server — nothing to breach, nothing to clean up. Close the tab and it's like it never happened. The only thing we count is which tool ran (just the name, e.g. "merge") so we know what people find useful — never your file, its name, its size, or anything in it.
