Frequently asked questions
Does this upload my company's org data anywhere?
No — the whole chart is built and drawn directly in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Can I have more than one person at the top?
Yes — anyone set to "Top level" becomes a separate tree, so you can model co-CEOs or multiple independent departments side by side.
What happens if I remove someone who has direct reports?
Their direct reports automatically move up to "Top level" rather than disappearing or pointing at a person who no longer exists — you can then reassign them to a new manager.
Can I make someone report to one of their own subordinates?
No — the manager list only offers people who aren't that person's own report (directly or indirectly), so you can't accidentally create a reporting loop.
How big a chart can I build?
As many people as you need — the canvas grows automatically to fit the whole tree, and the download captures it at full resolution.
Your files are never uploaded. Gotool.xyz runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser. Your files are processed in memory and never touch a server — nothing to breach, nothing to clean up. Close the tab and it's like it never happened. The only thing we count is which tool ran (just the name, e.g. "merge") so we know what people find useful — never your file, its name, its size, or anything in it.
