- Pick a mode: Random, From Image, or Harmony.
- Random: choose how many colors you want and click Generate — lock any swatches you like before generating again so only the unlocked ones change.
- From Image: upload a photo and its most dominant colors are pulled out automatically.
- Harmony: pick a starting color and a color-theory rule (complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, split-complementary, or monochromatic) to build a matching set.
- Click any swatch to copy its hex code, or use "Copy all" / "Download PNG" for the whole palette.
Frequently asked questions
Does this upload my photo anywhere?
No — in From Image mode the photo is sampled directly on a canvas in your browser to find its dominant colors. Nothing is sent to a server.
What does "locking" a color do?
In Random mode, locked swatches are protected — clicking Generate again reshuffles every other color but leaves locked ones exactly as they are, so you can build a palette around one or two colors you already like.
What are the harmony rules based on?
Standard color-theory relationships on the color wheel: complementary (opposite hues), analogous (neighboring hues), triadic and tetradic (evenly spaced hues), split-complementary, and monochromatic (one hue at varying lightness).
How do I get the colors into my design tool?
Click any swatch to copy its hex code straight to your clipboard, use "Copy all" for every code at once, or download the whole palette as a labeled PNG strip.
How many colors can a palette have?
Random and From Image modes let you choose 3 to 8 colors. Harmony mode's color count depends on the rule you pick, from 2 (complementary) up to 6 (monochromatic).
Your files are never uploaded. Gotool.xyz runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser. Your files are processed in memory and never touch a server — nothing to breach, nothing to clean up. Close the tab and it's like it never happened. The only thing we count is which tool ran (just the name, e.g. "merge") so we know what people find useful — never your file, its name, its size, or anything in it.
